The Farm at 42 sits on Highway 42 outside Clayton, in Johnston County. The property is built around two indoor banquet halls and an outdoor pond and pavilion, and the venue rents itself out one event at a time, so a wedding here has the grounds and the day to itself.
A rehearsal dinner can run in one hall, a ceremony at the pond, and the reception in the other hall, all on the same piece of land.
The Oak Room and the Maple Room
The Oak Room is the larger of the two halls, built for the property's biggest receptions, with a connected food preparation area for the catering team, a dance floor, and audiovisual equipment for toasts and a slideshow. The Maple Room seats up to 100, a comfortable fit for a smaller wedding, a rehearsal dinner or an engagement party. Both halls come with table and chair setup and breakdown, linen rentals in more than 100 colors, and a moveable bar, and the property has spacious bathrooms for guests.
The Serenity Pond
Outdoor ceremonies are held at the property's Serenity Pond, where an outdoor pavilion and up to 300 chairs are available for the ceremony. An indoor/outdoor patio featuring a bar, with a gas fire pit and permanent heaters, lets the reception spill outside once the sun goes down.
What We Design Here
Across the Oak Room's wide floor, saturated color and strong structure carry best. The Oak Room's open floor holds arrangements at a scale that would overwhelm a smaller room: tall pieces set along the center of the room read clearly from every table, while lower, wider arrangements at the tables keep sightlines open across a full house. The Maple Room sits at conversation scale, where arrangements can sit lower and closer and and texture leads. Because the linens on the tables change with each wedding, a palette here gets chosen against the linen first and the room second.
At the pond, the flowers frame the couple and the water mirrors them both. A single structure at the pavilion, paired arrangements along the aisle, or planters at the entrance carry a palette from the ceremony into whichever hall holds the reception, without repeating the same arrangement twice. The patio's bar area gives a compact spot for smaller arrangements made to be enjoyed up close.
Practical
The Farm at 42 is about 30 minutes southeast of Raleigh, and close to Smithfield, Benson, Goldsboro, and Wilson. Parking is on-site, with a lot sized for the venue's full events. Area lodging is worth confirming with the venue when you book.
