The Farm on Cotton is a family-run property in Sanford, built around two ceremony spaces: an open-air barn that also holds the reception, and a chapel set in the woods. The chapel is in regular use between weddings.
Both spaces handle the full arc of the day. The Glory Barn carries ceremony and reception together for the larger gatherings, while the chapel is kept for smaller ceremonies and elopements. A bridal suite, a stocked decor closet, and a day-of coordinator come with the rental, and a small group of farm animals (pigs, donkeys, and goats) lives on the property.
The Glory Barn
The Glory Barn measures 40 by 60 feet, open on the sides, with ceiling fans, a concrete floor, and six sliding doors that open the room to the property. Handcrafted farm tables and black folding chairs are included with the rental, and the barn holds both the ceremony and the reception on the same footprint. The venue books most of its weddings in the spring and fall.
The Chapel
Set apart from the barn, the chapel is an option for weddings under 50 guests. It has concrete sidewalks and adjustable lighting inside, and a cross stands at the front of the room. It operates year-round for elopements, including through the months when the barn is closed for the season.
The Bridal Suite
The bridal suite includes a kitchenette, a private restroom, and seating for family, along with a private dressing room set up with separate bridal and bridesmaid stations. Couples also get full use of the venue's decor closet, stocked with centerpieces, signage, ceremony backdrops, bud vases, lanterns, table numbers, and cornhole boards.
What We Design Here
The Glory Barn's open sides and sliding doors let outside light move through the room for most of the day, so a ceremony arrangement reads differently in that light than the same piece will once the doors are pulled to for the reception. With a concrete floor and black folding chairs as a plain frame, the tables can take a generous hand: tall pieces down the center of a run, low clusters at each place setting.
The chapel is the smaller, quieter room of the two, with adjustable lighting and a fixed cross at the front. Work there is scaled to what a few close rows of guests can see: a piece at the altar, small arrangements at the ends of the aisle, each sized for the room.
