Sullivan's Steakhouse occupies the Creamery Building, where the historic Pine State Creamery once stood, on Glenwood Avenue, in the middle of Raleigh's Glenwood South district. The restaurant runs on hand-cut prime steaks, fresh seafood, a full cocktail and wine list, and live music from local musicians.
For a wedding-related event, the draw is the range of private rooms built into the building. Eight private rooms sit alongside the main dining room, from small meeting-sized rooms to a space that seats more than 70, so a rehearsal dinner, a bridal luncheon, or a full reception each get a room sized for them.
The Private Dining Rooms
The Main Dining Room holds 142 for a seated dinner and 155 for a reception, and the restaurant also offers a full buyout of up to 400 guests. The Oak City Room seats 72 for dinner and 90 standing. The Canes Room seats 62 and 70 standing, with a wine wall along one side; the adjoining Canes Front Room seats 40 and opens onto the bar and lounge, while the smaller Canes Back Room, set up as a quiet meeting space, holds 24. The University Room seats 48 for dinner and 60 standing, with a layout flexible enough for a rehearsal dinner or a reception. Three smaller rooms, the Capital, Triangle, and Mason, each seat 24, and the Triangle Room has a wall of vintage books. Most rooms have built-in audio and wireless internet, with AV available on request, and several carry flat-screen displays for a slideshow or a toast played back later.
The Food
The kitchen sends the same hand-cut steaks and fresh seafood to private events that the main dining room serves nightly, alongside the restaurant's signature sides and desserts.
What We Design Here
The rooms are dark wood, low light and close proportions, with the feel of a private club, and the floral work is built to hold its own in that setting. We build toward warmth here: ivory, champagne, deep plum, burgundy, and soft gold glow against dark paneling and low light and catch every flicker of candlelight.
Scale sets the tone in these rooms. The smaller rooms seat 24 around a single table, so centerpieces stay low and dense, keeping conversation open and leaving room for the wine glasses. In the larger rooms, a mantel arrangement or a bar display can carry more height and structure and anchor the room alongside the wood paneling and the wine wall. Personal flowers lean rich and a little formal, in keeping with a room built around a serious meal.

Sullivan's sits on Glenwood Avenue in the Glenwood South district, a short walk from downtown Raleigh and one of the city's denser restaurant and nightlife corridors, which makes it straightforward for a rehearsal dinner one night and a different Glenwood restaurant the next.
