The Stockroom occupies a floor of the Carolina Trust Building in downtown Raleigh. The building went up in 1902 in the Classical Revival style, and in 1920 McLellan's Dime Store bought it, and the upper floors served as stockrooms. Exposed brick, hardwood floors, and lattice ceilings strung with market lighting fill 4,748 square feet of open room.
A floor-to-ceiling chalkboard wall runs the length of one side, and a handcrafted live-edge wooden bar anchors the room's cocktail service. Ivory chiffon drapery can divide the space, so cocktail hour and the seated reception each get their own setting in the same room.
The Stockroom
The open floor plan carries a ceremony, a seated dinner and dancing with only light changes between them. The lattice ceiling and hanging market lighting set the overhead scale, the brick gives the walls texture and depth, and the live-edge bar gives the cocktail hour a fixed point to work around. The drapery lets a couple close off part of the room for a cocktail hour and open it again for dinner, so the evening changes shape once without anyone leaving.
Dressing Suites
Rental includes two dressing suites: The Lounge, which sits next to the main room, and The Glass Box, a fifth-floor suite with city views. One hour of rehearsal time is included in addition to the ceremony and reception rental.
What We Design Here
Old brick soaks up light, so arrangements glow warmest in low, deep color. Market lighting under the lattice ceiling and natural light from the original windows share the room, and dense, structured work holds its shape in that mix.
The chalkboard wall gives a ceremony backdrop a fixed, dark plane to build against, and the live-edge bar suits something low and clustered that lets its grain show. Across the long room, height at the tables carries well, since every guest shares one continuous space.

The Stockroom is in downtown Raleigh, with three parking decks within 2 blocks. The building has elevator and ramp access. Book through the venue's events team for availability.
