Landon Estate is two buildings on one property in Clayton. The older one, the Estate House, was raised in 1828 by the Sanders family and known for generations after as the Sanders-Myatt house. The Gotliffe family bought it in 2024 and renovated it. Alongside it stands a second, larger building for receptions. The two buildings do different jobs: one holds the history, the other holds the party.
The venue is named for the family's son Landon, and the estate donates 10 percent of its yearly profits to the Autism Society of North Carolina.
The renovation reads as modern low country layered over French country furnishing, warm and fully finished. The two buildings share a bluestone patio between them, so a couple can move a ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception across the property and the whole day feels like one place.
The Estate House
The original 1828 structure is 3,500 square feet, since renovated, and built for the smaller parts of a wedding weekend: two private dressing suites and three hardwood-floored gathering rooms, plus a lounge. It suits cocktail-style events and gatherings of up to 75, and it is the natural home for a rehearsal dinner or a small ceremony.
The Hall
The Hall is the newer building, just over 4,100 square feet, built to hold a full reception. A cocktail lounge with a stone hearth fireplace and a built-in bar counter leads into the reception hall itself, where crystal chandeliers hang against exposed wood beams. A covered, heated porch runs off the space, so the room can open outward even in cooler months. The venue puts its largest number here, up to 200 guests gathered together, with 175 seated for a full dinner.
The Grounds
Two outdoor settings sit on the property, each suited to a different season. The Grove is a pecan grove roughly 100 years old, its canopy giving shade and cover through summer and fall ceremonies and cocktail hours. The Spring Bloom Garden is the counterpart for spring weddings, a planted backdrop that changes color through the season and works for a ceremony or a cocktail hour on its own. Grounds access runs from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., long enough to cover setup through the last dance.
What We Design Here
This property asks for two different kinds of floral thinking under one contract. In the Estate House, the rooms are close and hardwood-floored, and arrangements read best low and gathered, scaled to the size of a dressing suite. In the Hall, the ceiling height and the chandeliers can carry taller, more architectural work, and a warm, neutral palette sits well against the exposed beams.
Outdoors, the two settings pull in opposite directions. Under the pecan canopy, the structure is already overhead, so ceremony florals should stay low and let the trees do the work: ground-level arrangements, a simple altar marker, aisle treatments that sit easily beneath a hundred years of branches. In the Spring Bloom Garden, the planting itself supplies color, so the florals can be quieter and let the season carry the palette. Across the property, the throughline is warmth: tones that hold up against both old wood and new construction, textures with enough weight to read from a distance in a room this size.

Landon Estate is in Clayton, Johnston County. Free on-site parking accommodates up to 60 cars behind the property, with valet overflow parking available at additional cost. Under the Oak Catering is the venue's food and beverage partner, a chef-owned company built around farm-to-table menus with roughly 90 percent locally sourced ingredients, and the venue also allows couples to bring in an approved outside caterer.
