The Cotton Room occupies a floor of a textile factory built in the early 1900s. The brick is original and shows a century of wear in its color and texture, the ceilings run high, and soaring windows pull daylight across the room.
The floor is a single 12,000-square-foot room on one level, so a reception for hundreds and a small dinner are the same space set differently.
The Room
The brick walls carry real variation, patched in places and darker in others, the kind of surface a century of use leaves behind. The windows do double duty: daylight fills the room for a daytime ceremony, and after dark they turn to dark glass and throw the room's own light back at itself. The ceiling height gives a reception room to build up as well as out, which matters at this square footage, where low design can read as an afterthought.
The Suites
Two suites sit apart from the main room for the wedding party to get ready in. The Magnolia Suite runs 1,500 square feet, with chandeliers, upholstered seating, and its own kitchenette. The Lucky Strike Suite runs 1,450 square feet, finished in exposed brick and leather furniture, a plainer counterpart to the Magnolia's polish. Between the two, each side of the wedding party has its own room to get ready in, and the two groups meet at the ceremony.
The Catering
Catering runs through the venue's own kitchen, with menus built for each event by an in-house culinary team.
What We Design Here
Old brick and a high ceiling shape the design from the start, so the work needs enough scale to read from well overhead. Tall, structural pieces carry the ceiling height; low, dense arrangements handle the tables where guests actually sit. Warm, saturated color reads well against brick this old; pale, quiet palettes need real volume to register against it at all.
Because the brick and the windows already bring plenty of texture and pattern, the floor looks best with a handful of big pieces, each with space around it. The suites take a different brief entirely: close and soft, built for photographs at a much smaller scale than the main room asks for.
