The Club at 12 Oaks is a golf club in Holly Springs, built around a Jack Nicklaus course. The club calls itself a modern farmhouse wedding venue, and its wedding calendar covers ceremonies, receptions, rehearsal dinners, and bridal showers, all on the same grounds.
The club describes the choice couples face as an intimate outdoor garden ceremony or a grand country club affair indoors, its own language for the two settings a couple can pick between or combine over one day. Either way, the golf course is the backdrop for the whole day: guests look out over the fairways during the ceremony, the reception, or both.
Indoors and Out
The club's wedding page names neither setting beyond those terms: an outdoor garden ceremony space, and an indoor location for the reception. It does not describe either in further detail, so a couple planning toward a large guest list should walk both settings with the events team and confirm directly how a mixed indoor-and-outdoor day is arranged.
The club's meetings and events facilities list individual climate control, audiovisual support, and separate dining and meeting spaces among what it can offer a booked event, though its wedding page does not tie any of those specifically to a reception.
The Course
The course was designed by Jack Nicklaus and plays over 7,132 yards, with water brought into play on several holes. Undulating fairways and indigenous wetland vegetation frame several holes. For an outdoor ceremony, that vegetation is the backdrop: a working golf course, rougher and more textured at the edges than a typical country-club green.
The Catering
Catering runs through the club's own culinary staff, in three formats: hors d'oeuvres, plated dinners, and buffet-style dinners. The club also hosts rehearsal dinners and bridal showers, so a rehearsal dinner and a shower stay on the same grounds as the wedding itself.
What We Design Here
For an outdoor garden ceremony we build with structure, giving the arch or arbor enough mass and height to stand up to open sky and a course running to the horizon. Aisle work reads best kept simple and repeated, since the setting outside is already doing a lot of the work.
Move indoors for the reception and the same warm, grounded palette carries over: deep greens and warm neutrals that sit comfortably beside the fairways. Whichever setting a couple chooses, or however they split the day between the two, the course stays part of the view, so we build color and shape that read well against green in full sun and again after dark.
Practical
The Club at 12 Oaks sits in Holly Springs, in southern Wake County. The club's events team handles availability and planning. In Apex, The Oaks at Salem sets its ceremonies around a cobblestone courtyard, an old oak tree and a pond.
