MacGregor Downs is a private club built around a lake and a golf course, and it has been that since 1967. The Scottish theme runs through the property in concrete ways: the street is St. Andrews Lane, the clubhouse sits on the shore of Lake MacGregor, and the Main Dining Room is anchored by a stone fireplace that gives the whole ground floor its warmth. A wedding here sits inside that same setting: established rooms, a working golf course beyond the windows, and a lake in view from the ceremony lawn and the terrace.
A wedding at MacGregor Downs typically moves through three settings in one evening: vows on the lawn by the water, cocktails inside by the fireplace, and dinner and dancing under a tented terrace. The club builds its wedding packages around that sequence, and the packages are all-inclusive: catering, bar service, tables, chairs, linens, dinnerware, and utensils come from the club itself, prepared by its own executive chef and culinary team, along with day-of coordination.
The Lakeside Ceremony Lawn
Ceremonies are held on a lawn at the water's edge, with Lake MacGregor as the backdrop and the golf course visible beyond it. It is an outdoor setting first, dependent on the season and the hour, and the club treats it as the opening scene of the evening.
The Main Dining Room
Guests move indoors for cocktail hour into the Main Dining Room, built around a stone fireplace, with a warm rustic feel and heavy architectural detail. The fireplace and the woodwork are permanent fixtures, present in every season, so styling here works alongside them.
The Garden Terrace
Dinner and dancing move to the Garden Terrace, a tented space next to the Main Dining Room, lit with chandeliers and set up as the evening's main event space. Under the tent, the evening air stays part of the party through dinner and dancing.
What We Design Here
The property gives you three different kinds of light in one night: open sky over the lawn, firelight and dark wood indoors, and the warmer glow of chandeliers under canvas on the terrace. We plan one palette that carries through all three. Near the water we keep arrangements low and structural so the lake stays visible. Around the fireplace, texture and warmth come into their own, since the stone and the dark wood set the tone before a single arrangement is placed. Under the tent, height and movement suit the space: runs of work along the frame, taller pieces on the tables, work that lifts the eye and opens the terrace up.
