Location: 6048 King Farm Lane, Knightdale, NC 27545 Capacity: On request from the venue Type: Barn / Farm Website: barnatkinghillfarm.com
The Barn at King Hill Farm sits on 50 acres of working farmland that has stayed in the same family for generations. The barn is built for use, and the details show it: 2 air-conditioning units and 2 ceiling fans 10 feet across keep the room comfortable under the exposed beams.
A lake with a running fountain sits within view of the barn, and a pair of old silos left over from the farm's working decades stands nearby, giving photographers ready-made landmarks. A perennial garden and a stand of old oak trees form one ceremony site; the barn's own doors, thrown open, form the other.
The Barn
Inside, the barn is a single open room with plain beams and wood. A catering prep kitchen sits off to the side for the caterer's use, and a decor closet is available to draw on if a couple wants it. Tables and chairs are included with the rental, along with 2 bars for the reception. A Bridal Suite and a Grooms Den give the wedding party separate places to dress and wait out the afternoon before the ceremony.
The Grounds
Outside, the lake and its fountain anchor the view from the barn's windows and from the patio, where cornhole is set out for guests who want something to do before dinner starts. Cocktail hour is set out among the silos. The perennial garden and its old oak trees give the outdoor ceremony a settled, planted look, and parking is laid out to handle a full guest list along with vendors' vehicles.
What We Design Here
A barn this plain in its bones and this open to a lake and a working field suits arrangements with a loose, gathered look. We lean into loose, textured work at low tables and reserve height for the barn doors and the silo backdrop, where a taller piece stands out clearly against sky and weathered wood. Warm, sun-bleached tones hold up against the wood and the water equally well, and we plan for two settings, the garden ceremony under the oaks and the barn interior at night, so the afternoon ceremony and the evening reception each get a palette of their own.
The space is plain and unfinished, so we put more of the budget into scale and texture and let the farm supply the frame.
Practical
The farm sits just east of Raleigh, on a quiet stretch of land. Parking is on-site and sized for the full guest list and vendor traffic.
The venue holds one wedding per day, so the property is yours from decorating at 9 a.m. through the last song at 11 p.m. Couples may use a caterer from the venue's preferred list or bring in another licensed, insured caterer; alcohol must be served through one of the venue's preferred bartending services. The venue's own team handles tours, availability and event planning directly.
