Raleigh Country Club was founded in 1948 and is home to the final golf course Donald Ross designed before his death, a course the club restored in 2020 with architect Kyle Franz working to honor Ross's original design while updating it for modern play. The club's history runs through the sport: Sam Snead played its inaugural exhibition, Ellis Maples served as its first Director of Golf, and several of the sport's early stars played its course over the years. The course has hosted the Korn Ferry Tour's UNC Health Championship, bringing professional golf back to the grounds.
Weddings here are open to members and to sponsored guests from across the McConnell Golf network, the group of private clubs Raleigh Country Club belongs to. The Peartree Room
The Peartree Room is a 2,107-square-foot ballroom lit by brass chandeliers and crystal sconces, seating up to 120 guests on its own. Combined with the adjoining Donald Ross Lounge and Trophy Room, the space opens to hold up to 250, which makes it the club's largest configuration for a reception.
The Ceremony Site
The outdoor ceremony site sits behind the clubhouse, overlooking the tenth tee. Guests face the golf course during the vows, and the fairway and tree line make the backdrop.
The Trophy Room and Donald Ross Lounge
The Trophy Room is a 2,142-square-foot fireside room with views across the course, suited to a rehearsal dinner or a welcome party ahead of the main event. It holds up to 60 guests banquet style or 120 theater style.
The Donald Ross Lounge is smaller at 1,404 square feet, built around a mahogany bar with both indoor seating and outdoor patio access, and panoramic views of the course from either side of the glass.
The Fairway Deck
The Fairway Deck is a 1,488-square-foot outdoor space finished in wood decking and stone pillars, set into the landscaping along the course. It functions as an open-air extension of whichever room a couple is using indoors, a place to take a cocktail hour outside while the course is still in view, or to carry a late gathering into the open air.
What We Design Here
The Peartree Room's brass and crystal call for warm metallics and rich, saturated color. The fixtures already carry the light, and the flowers should match their weight. The Trophy Room and the Donald Ross Lounge run darker and closer, fireside tones and mahogany, and a few dense, structural arrangements suit them well.
Outdoors, the course is the backdrop. At the ceremony site and on the Fairway Deck, we build low and let the fairway stay the horizon, marking the space and leaving the rest to a view the club has spent decades maintaining. Texture and scale carry these rooms more than color does, since the tenth fairway and the tree line behind it fill the eye long before anything on the table does.
