Forest Hall occupies a corner of Chatham Mills, a label mill built in Pittsboro in the early 1900s and converted into an event venue. The 3,500-square-foot hall keeps its wood floors and brick walls, with exposed beams overhead and large windows on multiple sides.
Around the building sit 32 acres of forest and meadow, private to the venue, with an 80-foot sycamore tree, additional mill buildings, and a water tower visible above the treeline. Guests park near Chatham Marketplace on the Chatham Mills campus, walk through the shared lobby and turn left down the hallway; Forest Hall's front door is on the right.
The Hall
The hall divides down its center, with white draping used to separate a dining area from a dance floor when the layout calls for it. Wood floors, brick walls, and windows on more than one side carry the room through the day, and the exposed beams overhead take it into the evening. The space holds from 25 to 200 people depending on how it is set, and rental includes the venue's own tables and chairs, among them a set of farm tables.
The Grounds
Outside, a meadow lined with trees opens behind the mill buildings, with an 80-foot sycamore which the venue offers as a ceremony backdrop. Additional mill buildings, gardens, and the water tower sit across the 32 acres, giving a couple several backdrops on the same property. Because the indoor and outdoor spaces sit side by side, couples can make the final call a few hours before the ceremony.
What We Design Here
The building supplies its own texture: old brick, worn wood, black iron hardware, and warm bulb light. Work here reads best with some weight and structure behind it, sized to hold its own beside the brick and timber. Under the sycamore, the tree is already the main event, so ceremony pieces stay simple: a dressed arch, a lined aisle, containers in tones that read well against both brick and bark. Because a wedding here can move between the meadow and the hall on short notice, we build one palette that flows between both settings.
Practical
Forest Hall sits inside the Chatham Mills complex in downtown Pittsboro, about 20 minutes from Chapel Hill and 40 minutes from Raleigh or Durham. Parking is shared with the rest of the Chatham Mills campus, in the lot in front of Chatham Marketplace. Catering runs through Forest Hall's sister company, 39 West Catering, on the same property; a couple may bring in an outside caterer instead, with approval and an added cost. The Sycamore at Chatham Mills sits next door for a gathering before or after the event. Forest Hall keeps a list of recommended vendors and will consider others with approval. The venue's own team handles tours and availability directly.
