Britton Manor sits on eighty acres in La Grange, a family estate brought to life by Stephen Hill as a wedding venue built in the style of a traditional English manor. The house, the gardens, and the grounds were conceived together, and it all has the easy feel of a private home that welcomes weddings.
The grounds hold a glass conservatory strung with a chandelier, the colonnaded garden structure set among the plantings, a front lawn at the manor's entrance, and a pool that some of the suites look out over. Couples can rent the property for the day, add a night or two in the manor itself, or hand the whole weekend to the venue's own coordinators, from a rehearsal dinner through the reception.
The Gardens and Grounds
The eighty acres give a couple room to spread a wedding across more than one setting: a ceremony among the plantings, a reception on the front lawn, portraits worked into the wider grounds. The colonnaded garden structure and its statuary belong to the landscape itself. The pool and its terrace add a relaxed middle ground between the formal gardens and the manor's interior.
The Manor
The manor holds eight suites, individually decorated and named, sleeping up to sixteen overnight guests between them: full beds, queen beds, a king, cedar-lined closets, and private or shared baths depending on the room. A shared theater room with a small kitchen and television gives the wedding party somewhere to gather outside their own suites. Staying in the house turns the wedding into a weekend, with the morning of the ceremony and the night after both spent inside the same walls as the celebration itself.
The Glasshouse
The glass conservatory is the property's clearest departure from the garden-and-lawn vocabulary of the rest of the estate: a chandelier hangs from its ceiling, and daylight comes through the glass on every side. It feels made for a toast or a long dinner, and it gives couples an indoor room set right inside the garden.
