Birthday flowers in Raleigh and Durham, made in our studio and driven to the door

The Durham runs leave our studio in Northwest Raleigh and head west. Anything bound for Duke takes I-40 or Highway 147. North Durham comes up I-85 and along North Roxboro Street, a route steady enough that we plan timing around it. So a birthday arrangement for someone near Duke rides one of those roads, made when the order came in and photographed before it left.

We make and hand-deliver birthday flowers in Raleigh, NC and across Durham, and the order stays with us from the studio to the door. The designer sends you a photo of the finished piece before it leaves the studio, one of our own drivers carries it out, and the birthday person gets a text once the driver is on the way. If the birthday crept up on you, it can still go out today. Enter your ZIP for the current delivery charge. The same check shows today's cutoff. A big birthday is worth a few days' notice, and we'll get to why.

Raleigh, from Creedmoor Road to Lake Johnson

We start on our own side of town. Northwest Raleigh means the houses off Creedmoor Road and Edwards Mill and the offices near Crabtree Valley. Out toward the airport, Brier Creek mixes homes with a corporate center, and our drivers know which of those buildings send everything through a front desk. If the person you're sending to works in one, mark the address as commercial when you check out and add the suite number and the floor. Their full name on the order does the rest.

Inside the Beltline the stops sit close together. Five Points, Hayes Barton, Oberlin Village and Glenwood South are a few minutes apart. Farther north, North Hills has residential towers and offices along Six Forks Road. Southwest Raleigh takes in Hillsborough Street, NC State and the streets toward Lake Johnson, which covers a birthday on campus or near it. The full list is on our page for same-day flower delivery in Raleigh.

Birthdays usually come with a time attached, a dinner reservation or cake in the break room at the end of the day. We do not offer exact delivery times. If you have a time preference, call us or add it under “Delivery instructions” when you order. We will do our best to accommodate it, though it is a request and never a promise.

Birthday flowers in Durham, from Trinity Park down to Hope Valley

Durham homes run from Trinity Park near Duke to Duke Forest along West Campus, then down to Hope Valley in south Durham, where the streets around the country club were laid out in the 1920s. We deliver to Old Hope Valley, to the newer sections in Hope Valley Farms, and to the businesses at Hope Valley Commons on NC-751 and Garrett Road. Over time we have also learned the occasional unpaved Durham driveway. Good to know if the house sits well back from the road.

The office runs go downtown and to the Brightleaf District, and to the renovated buildings at American Tobacco Campus. Research Triangle Park works like any building with a lobby, so mark it commercial and add the suite number or floor. Even where everything goes to a front desk, the recipient still gets our text when the driver is on the way. And if the birthday person is in town for a long weekend, the same drivers bring flowers to the Washington Duke Inn on Cameron Boulevard and to The Durham Hotel. The Durham ZIPs and the roads we use are on our page for same-day flower delivery in Durham.

One calendar note for both cities. We don't drive on Sundays, so a Sunday order goes out on Monday. For a Sunday birthday, send the flowers Saturday so they are there for the weekend, or Monday to carry it into the week.

A milestone birthday is worth a few days of lead time

A seventieth, or the birthday the family is flying in for, is a different piece of work. It starts with sourcing, calling in the particular material worth building a design around, and that takes a few days. That time is what lets the designer make it remarkable.

Many designs come in Standard, Deluxe and Premium, and the product page shows which. Our FAQ says it plainly: for a milestone birthday, the Premium size makes the arrival feel like an event. For the look, a garden-style arrangement with mixed color and texture feels like a party. The one people remember tends to be lush and colorful, with something a little unexpected in it.

When it arrives can count for as much as how big it is. For a golden anniversary we tell people to have the arrangement delivered the day of the gathering, so it anchors the table all day. The same goes for a seventieth birthday lunch in Hope Valley or a sixtieth dinner in a Hayes Barton dining room.

Sending from out of state to someone in the Triangle

A significant portion of our orders come from outside North Carolina, many from family with relatives here. You order the way you would if you lived on the next street. Enter her Raleigh or Durham address, write the card message, and we handle everything after that; she will never know you placed the order two time zones away. The photo of the finished arrangement reaches you before the driver leaves, and the emails tell you when it is out and when it has landed.

The photo matters most when you can't be there. Linda C. wrote: "I requested a unique arrangement for a dear friend's 65th birthday, as I couldn't celebrate with her in person." And later: "My friend was absolutely delighted with the beautiful arrangement and so was I when I received a photo before the delivery."

If you want to send a little more, add a box of Artisan Macarons from a local baker at checkout. The colors and flavors vary daily, and they come in the same delivery as the flowers. Then the card, which is the part people forget to finish. It prints your words and nothing else, so write it the way you would say it to her on the phone. And sign your name.

Novia Hungerford wrote one line in her review that says it well enough: "My daughter who is very picky loved them for her birthday."

Everything starts in our shop, with the design that looks most like her. When the photo comes through from the studio, you'll see exactly what is about to arrive at her door.

Whenever you’re ready, you can order flowers in Raleigh from our studio, each arrangement made by hand.
