Flowers for coworkers: one arrangement from the whole office

Flowers for coworkers take a handful of small decisions, and most of them can be made in the time it takes to pass the envelope around. For a birthday at work or a work anniversary, send one arrangement from the team to the office, compact enough to share a desk with a keyboard, and order it a day or two ahead. Put the recipient's full name and the company on the order. At checkout, mark the address as commercial and add the suite and floor. For a coworker leaving, pick something they can carry out to the car on their last afternoon. The card holds up to 300 characters, and everyone should sign it. Our own drivers carry it across the Triangle, and the price depends on where it is going. Enter your ZIP for the current delivery charge.

One person collects, and one order goes in

Office flowers usually start with one person who says they will handle it. Checkout is paid by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and the card is charged when the order is placed. So the easy way is for the organizer to collect from everyone first and place the order with the full amount in hand.

A fixed pot of money suits Designer's Choice well. "You choose the size, and we design a one of a kind arrangement from the freshest seasonal flowers in the studio that day," its page says. Pick the size that matches what the team raised and let the designer take it from there. If you know something about the person, tell us. Maybe she shares a small office and can't stand strong scent. Maybe his office is all navy and gray. Put the colors in the checkout note, and one line is plenty.

Nobody on the receiving end sees what anyone chipped in. The order confirmation goes only to the person who placed it, and the FAQ says "there is no pricing information anywhere in the delivery."

If you are the one who organizes these all year, keep the sizes steady from one birthday to the next, because people in an office compare notes eventually.

Managers buying for their own staff do it the same way. Therese W. wrote, "I spoke with Anita and told her I was looking for two similarly impressive bouquets to give to two of my staff. After sending her my budget and a few photos of flowers I liked, she came up with these absolutely beautiful arrangements." A budget and a few pictures were enough to go on.

What to send depends on where it will sit

A birthday arrangement on a work desk spends the day in full view of the floor. It sits next to a monitor and a coffee mug, and people walk over to look. Colorful and a little unexpected suits a birthday, and a compact shape leaves room to work until five. For a big birthday the FAQ points to one of the larger sizes, since a milestone can carry a fuller arrangement. If the floor likes an excuse to gather, add a box of Artisan Macarons at checkout. They come from a Raleigh baker the studio works with and arrive in the same delivery.

Work anniversary flowers can be quieter. Our business page mentions "the tenth anniversary that somebody in HR has been keeping track of all year," and a date like that sits well in a calm palette, soft white and pale green or one deep color, on a credenza or the corner of a desk. Put the number on the card. The number is the point.

Flowers for a coworker leaving go home with the person, which changes the job. Picture the walk to the parking deck on the last day, a box of desk things under one arm and the arrangement in the other. Choose something compact enough to carry in one hand. Order a day or two ahead, so the flowers get some time on the desk before the goodbyes start. When the goodbye is a retirement, our retirement flowers give the party something generous to gather around.

When the birthday falls on a weekend, send it to work the Friday before. Offices are mostly empty on Saturday, and we don't deliver on Sundays. The card can say the flowers are early on purpose.

March 8 is another good day for a team order. Our Women's Day flowers are made for thanking the colleague who always has your back.

The front desk is part of the plan

In an office building the arrangement usually goes through reception. The FAQ asks you to mark the address as commercial and include the suite number or floor. The recipient gets a text when the driver is on the way, so they can plan around it, as our page on business flower delivery in Raleigh describes. If the person is out that day, they can call us and we will pick another day. If an office keeps short hours on a certain day, put that in the delivery instructions.

A colleague out sick or working from home is a different address. Send it to the house and tell us what to expect at the door.

You see the arrangement before anyone at the office does. "Each arrangement is made when the order comes in, the designer photographs it and sends you the picture before it leaves the studio, and one of our own drivers takes it out," our same-day page says.

What to write when twelve people are signing

The card holds up to 300 characters, in your words. The FAQ also asks you to sign it, because "you’d be surprised how often a beautiful arrangement arrives and the recipient has no idea who it’s from." On a team gift the signature does most of the work. Twelve first names run long, and "from all of us in accounting" or "from the third floor" says the same thing in a few words, with room left for one real sentence.

Keep that sentence small and specific, and swap in your own names. A birthday card might read "Happy birthday, Dana. The floor is better with you on it. From all of us in accounting." For a last day, try "Six years of good calls and better snacks. We will miss you, Marcus. From everyone on three."

Once the money is in, the size the team can cover decides the rest. Designer's Choice leaves the choosing to the designer, and the full collection lets the team pick one together. Put the suite number in the address so the driver can find the right floor. When the card is for the boss, our guide to Boss's Day flowers covers the date, the size and the words.
