Rose Hill Estate

Rose Hill Estate sits on a working countryside property in Nash County, outside the town of Nashville, North Carolina. The Manor House at its center was built about 1790 by Nathan Boddie, on farmland the family received in a 1762 land grant from King George III, and the Boddie family carried out a major renovation of the house beginning in 1979 to prepare it for modern use. The estate is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Rose Hill grew in stages, and a wedding here can draw on each of them: an 18th-century house, a purpose-built ballroom, a working smokehouse, and open pasture and pond, all under one ownership and one set of grounds.

The Manor House

The Manor House is furnished throughout with period antiques, and the Manor House is the backdrop for outdoor ceremonies. Inside, 5 bedrooms include a bridal suite, and the Gentlemen's Room, paneled from floor to ceiling,, gives the wedding party a formal space to gather that is separate from the reception rooms. Couples married at Rose Hill are offered a complimentary overnight stay after the wedding in the manor's furnished couple's suite, and the manor's upstairs rooms take good morning light, which is where the wedding party dresses.

Nathan Hall

Nathan Hall is the estate's ballroom, purpose-built for a large reception. Its 18-foot tray ceilings, a run of large windows, and a fireplace anchor a space designed for dancing and formal dining alongside the Manor House's period interiors.

The Grounds

Outdoor ceremonies at Rose Hill happen most often at the Swan Gazebo, set over a pond with a fountain, or in the Pecan Grove, which looks out over the estate's open pasture and rolling countryside. The smokehouse, a rustic barbecue building near the pond, seats up to 100 guests for a rehearsal dinner or a more casual gathering, with manicured lawns and the pond itself as its immediate backdrop.

What We Design Here

Rose Hill's rooms run in two registers: the manor's antique-filled interiors, dense with pattern and dark wood, and Nathan Hall's taller, simpler space, built for a crowd. We design toward whichever room a couple is standing in: warm, layered, textured work for the manor's low light and close rooms, and taller, more architectural arrangements suited to Nathan Hall's ceiling height. Outdoors, the pond, pasture, and open lawn already supply scale and color, so work at the gazebo and in the grove stays close to the ground, with structure held at the aisle and little else, so the countryside stays the backdrop it already is.

Practical

The estate sits in Nash County, about 45 minutes from Raleigh and an hour and a half from Durham and Chapel Hill, reached by Rose Hill Lane off NC-58. Catering runs through Rose Hill's partner caterer, Rocky Top. For overnight guests, the estate points couples to hotel partners in Rocky Mount, including several familiar hotel brands, along with a tiny-house property, River & Twine. The events team handles availability and packages directly.
