Mother’s Day flowers in Raleigh are our busiest orders of the year, and for good reason. Mother’s Day comes around every May, and if your mom is anything like ours, she deserves more than a last-minute gas station bouquet. Whether she lives in Raleigh, Cary, or anywhere in the Triangle, the right flowers, chosen with care and delivered fresh, can say everything you’re struggling to put into words.
Here’s our guide to getting it right.
Mother’s Day Flowers: Start with What She Actually Loves
It sounds obvious, but you’d be surprised how many people default to red roses for Mother’s Day without thinking about what their mom actually likes. Does she gravitate toward soft pinks and whites? Go with garden roses, ranunculus, and peonies: if they’re in season, they’ll be at their peak in early May. Is she more of a bold, vibrant-color person? Bright dahlias, sunflowers, and mixed spring arrangements hit differently than the standard pastel fare.
If you genuinely don’t know her favorite flower, that’s fine. A mixed seasonal arrangement from a good florist will always feel personal because it’s made by hand that day.
Timing Matters More Than You Think
Mother’s Day is one of the busiest days of the year for us. We love it, and it also means that ordering early gives you the best selection. If you wait until Saturday afternoon hoping for same-day Sunday delivery, you may be out of luck.
Our recommendation: place your order by the Thursday before Mother’s Day if possible. You can schedule delivery for Saturday or Sunday, and your arrangement will be made fresh on the delivery day. If you’re the last-minute type (no judgment), check our delivery information page for same-day cutoff times.
Consider the Setting
Think about where your mom will put the flowers. A dining room table calls for something different than a kitchen counter or a bedside table. Compact, colorful arrangements work beautifully in smaller spaces. Larger, more dramatic pieces, think tall branches mixed with seasonal blooms, make a statement in an entryway or living room.
And if your mom is the type who says “you didn’t have to do that” while clearly loving every second of it, a smaller arrangement with her favorite flower and a heartfelt card is all you need.
Our Favorite Mother’s Day Flowers
May is a spectacular time for flowers in North Carolina. Here’s the feeling we reach for every May:
Peonies: The crown jewel of spring. Lush, fragrant, and romantic, from North Carolina farms in spring and from growers in Holland, Australia and New Zealand through much of the year.
Garden roses: Fuller and more textured than standard roses, with that old-world charm. They come in every shade from cream to deep coral and they smell incredible.
Ranunculus, Paper-thin petals layered like a tiny rose’s cooler cousin. Available in spring and perfect for adding texture and movement to an arrangement.
Hydrangeas: Big, lush, and available in blue, pink, green, and white. One stem fills a vase. Three stems fill a room.
Tulips, Classic spring. Clean, simple, elegant. A bunch of tulips in a glass vase says “I see you” without trying too hard.
Add a Personal Touch
Every order from our collection includes a free card message, up to 400 characters. It comes on a complimentary card. You’d be amazed how much a few handwritten-style words can mean. Don’t overthink it. “Thank you for everything, Mom. I love you.” is perfect.
If you want to go a step further, we offer add-ons like artisan macarons and candles through our Gifts & Pairings collection. A beautiful arrangement plus a box of French macaroons? That’s a Mother’s Day she’ll be talking about at book club for weeks.
