Housewarming flowers for a house you have never seen

For housewarming flowers, send a Standard or Deluxe arrangement in clear, fresh colors to the new address, timed for the second day after the move, with a card that says plainly who it is from. That holds even for an address you have never walked up to. Maybe a friend just closed on a first house in Wake Forest, or your daughter got the keys to a townhouse in Cary. You choose the arrangement at Hidden Door, and one of our own drivers takes it from our studio in Northwest Raleigh to the front door. Enter your ZIP for the current delivery charge. Use the ZIP of the new house; the same check shows today's cutoff.

The second day is often the better one

Move-in day belongs to the truck. The door is propped open, somebody is carrying a mattress up the stairs, and anything that arrives gets set down on a stack of boxes. By the next day the kitchen has been found and a few things are on the counter. The person who lives there finally has a minute to look at what came, which is why new home flowers delivered on that second day tend to get noticed. Same-day delivery is right for the note you send the afternoon you hear they closed. If the gift has a date attached, order a day or two early. There are no deliveries on Sunday, so after a Sunday move-in, Monday is the second day anyway.

The recipient gets a text when the driver is on the way. On move-in week a knock can get lost under the sound of a tape gun, so if nobody answers, the arrangement goes to a covered porch or a neighbor, never into direct sun, with a note or a text saying where it is.

A new address needs a few details. Mark it as a home address at checkout. In a gated neighborhood, the code goes in the delivery instructions. For one of the residential towers along Six Forks Road in North Hills, or an apartment downtown, add the unit number; if the building has a concierge, say so in the delivery instructions. Before the arrangement leaves the studio, the designer sends you a photo of it. You may never see the house. You will have seen the flowers.

Check the street address twice, since a new one is easy to get wrong. Hidden Door began in Los Angeles in 2018 and moved to Raleigh in 2022, and a review from those Los Angeles years tells the story well. Toby Ditz was sending a welcome gift to a daughter who was moving into a new apartment in Pasadena, and wrote: "And i realized i got the street address wrong. I called at the very last minute to change it." The truck was already on the road, and the review goes on: "...they could not have been nicer. They called the driver en route and the flowers got there the day of her arrival." A second look at the address before you pay saves that phone call.

Colors that read as a beginning

Our guide to flower color meanings files white under purity, sympathy and new beginnings, and it is candid that white does both kinds of work. For a housewarming we like white carried by plenty of green, which the guide ties to renewal and, in some traditions, good fortune. That is about as close as color gets to wishing someone luck in a new place. Yellow means joy and friendship in the same guide, and it suits a friend's first place. Soft coral sits between pink and orange, and the guide gives it sincerity and gratitude, a good fit if you are thanking someone for a year of house hunting.

Size matters more in a new house than in a settled one. That first week, the kitchen island is often the only clear surface in the place, and everybody ends up standing around it. A design can come in as many as three sizes, Standard, Deluxe and Premium, the same arrangement scaled up, and the product page lists the ones it is made in. Compare those options with the spot where it will sit. On a counter surrounded by boxes, Standard or Deluxe is plenty.

A card for the first week in a new place

The card field holds up to 300 characters. We print your message on a card that goes in with the arrangement, with no branding and no promotional language, and the recipient never sees a price. Sign it, too; checkout will remind you.

For a friend, specific beats grand. Something like: First night in the new place. Order takeout, eat it on the floor, and put these where you will see them in the morning. Love, Dana. If it is a grown child's first house and you live out of state, the order works the same as it would from down the street. Write what you would say standing in their driveway.

With welcome to the neighborhood flowers, the card only has to say where you live. Welcome to the street. We are the gray house with the red door, two down on the left. Knock anytime. The Parks. For something sweet alongside, the gifts and pairings page has Artisan Macarons from a Raleigh baker, added at checkout and brought in the same delivery.

For agents and lenders who send them often

An agent's closing gift is easy to get right if the closing date is on your calendar. Order early. Note the move-in date, and give the studio a day or two before an important piece is due. The photo before it leaves doubles as your record of what the client received.

Our corporate floral page counts real estate agents among the people we already work with, the ones who know that staging a home with fresh flowers changes the way a buyer feels when they walk through the door. Thank-you arrangements for clients are part of that work, handled as one-time orders. You call or send a message, we talk through what you need, and you get a quote.

The printed card carries no branding of ours, so there is room for yours in words. Sign with your name and company, then add a line about the house that only the agent who found it could write, say, Still thinking about the offer we wrote on your porch in the rain. The studio also does open house and staging flowers through our home floral décor service, so the same workbench can do the open house and the welcome home.

Before you order, get the full new address, with the unit number and any gate code. Then have a look at the housewarming arrangements in the shop.
